If you read it alongside all of the exceptions that we’ve got, it works for me - what don’t you like?

I'm concerned over the increasing integration Europe wide, and the removal of sovereignty regarding our position as a separate entity within the worldwide stage.
Reading that, I'd actually be persuaded to vote leave if it came to a second referendum.

Isn't ironic that the SNP, who don't want to be a small cog in the big UK machine, are desperate to be a tiny cog in the far bigger EU machine? I totally get Scottish independance but I don't get the apparent incongruency in the desire to be part of an ever-integrating EU.

Fair enough - I think I'm probably at the other end of the scale on that one - in a country that seems determined to keep voting for the tories, I'd be more comfortable being part of a bigger, saner Europe I think.

The Scottish position is my one hope I think - if they quit the UK and go back into Europe, I can see myself moving up there.

I'm in that camp too... but let's play hypotheticals... What happens if the political position of the EU changed over time and the superstate became very right wing? And the sane UK voice was alone and unsupported in an EU of fascists? With the EU passing race laws and all the rest?

It seems to me that the SNP take a confused and, frankly, hypocritical position.

That would be an interesting situation- sadly I think it’s the other way around though - we’re going to veer further to the right ourselves, Being part of the bigger club provides checks and balances that keep extremists at bay - you also have the ability to play a part in restraining the excessses in your hypothetical, but only if you’re in.

Can we have a ‘officially announce that it’s all been a terrible mistake, accept that the referendum question was genuinely stupid, that the campaign was crooked and is therefore null and void, and that we’re going to start the process again with a question along the lines of “would you like the government to review the options available were we to leave the European Union, and present those options to you for a choice once it’s clear?”’

I'm thinking May goes to the bathroom and David Cameron is in the shower.

As a naive youngster that knows next to nothing about this other than it's fucked up my workplace, did we have to rush Article 50? Considering a referendum isn't legally binding and just an opinion of what the public believe is the best thing, it seemed mad to me that we triggered that without having the briefest hints of a plan involved first.

It was a year between referendum and citing Article 50 so not really rushed. The original plan was to have the future trade arrangement agreed at the same time but the EU said it would only do so once we had left.
