The Last Of Us - Season 2

I'd be keen to get the thoughts from those that have not played the game. What are your thoughts on the season so far?

I'm starting to get the impression that if you have played the games, you're going to be less likely to enjoy the series than someone that hasn't.

My main gripe with it is Ellie. In the second game, she is broken. She goes on this wild and dangerous revenge mission because she is fuelled with anger and that comes across clearly throughout the game.

In the series, she doesn't seem to be that broken. She doesn't seem like the type of person (or in the state of mind) to be going out on this crazy mission.

SPOILER IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE LATEST EPISODE

The "I'm imune", "I'm pregnant" followed by the finger blasting and then "I'm going to be a Dad" was absolutely ridiculous and awful, awful writing.

're the last of us s2

Can you explain who the people hanging up dead were and who killed them?

We are getting confused between WLF, Wolves, fire flies, Fedra and whoever else.

And yes, she doesn't seem very broken. Just more focused and together .

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong as its been a while since I completed the game, so going off the series:

WLF and Wolves are the same thing. They are a mercenary group, same as the Fire Flies. The people that killed and hung up the WLF people were the seraphites (I believe also known as Scars). They’re just another group but more like a religious one.

Fedra was the army, but pretty much got killed or they defected.

FEDRA are pretty much defunct by the time the "current time" is we're watching.

Seraphites- 'Scars' to their arch rival 'WLF' (Washington Liberation Front - 'Wolves') are a cult. A real weird (And frankly c*nt of a group to kill in the game) cult at that. All the things they talk about "her" are the "God" like woman who founded their cult who has now passed. They're a bit Amish. Use arrows, fire, hammers to hunt prey.

WLF - 'Wolves' (Washington Liberation Front) are Seattle's militia but a self made uprising that took down FEDRA

FEDRA - The militia that controlled the Quarantine Zones around the country. You saw them in S1 controlling Joel's QZ in Boston.

Fireflies - A rebellion group that also came up against FEDRA from Boston much like Seattle's WLF. SPOILERS Joel unalived them to save Ellie when they were going to kill her to study her body for a cure.

Abby, the one who did the thing with the golf club, is a member of the WLF. As too are her friends.
Isaac, the man torturing the 'Scar' is the leader of the WLF - a former disillusioned member of FEDRA who rebelled and helped take them down.

I'm not surprised there is confusion. The game wasn't exactly clear cut either but it helped explain it a bit better with its level design.
If you're at a point where it all becomes a bit too much, stick with it because it does become clear eventually (I hope for the show any way) pretty soon - but yeah I've had to pause and explain to my girlfriend and my dear mother who liked season 1 God bless her, and if I hadn't played the game I'd probably be confused too.

I've never played the game (I've never been a game player) but I'm enjoying this new series very much

Whilst I found the first series very well put together and visually stunning at times, it also felt slow and over-long. Given this I'd forgotten many of the details so big thanks for the summary Alby!

This time round there's a bit more pace and I've been on the edge of my seat for much of it - that second episode felt like Shaun of the Dead meets Saving Private Ryan - they certainly went for it there!

Funny how it works, I think this one is slower and poorly paced

I just started playing the game back. Ellies initial reaction to the pregnancy is anger. She calls Dina a burden.

This reaction is way more fitting to the situation they are in and why they are in it.

I felt they got Season 1 spot on but they’ve got season 2 wrong. No idea why they’ve decided to change how Ellie acts so much. Its just two children on an adventure in the series, unfortunately.

I felt that in the game, though. How quickly Joel was forgotten. Personally.

I think the game and the season are pretty aligned. Absolutely, well and truly, a poor story.
