Not sure Trump can stand again can he? (Isn't there a 2 term limit there?)

Will be interesting to see if there will be a continuation of him in another person? His son maybe?

I believe the 2 term limit applys to consecutive terms only.

There are no rules which Trump respects. It could even suit him if someone like Musk stood. As if Musk lost, Trump could annul the elections and install a dictatorship. He might even then creatva new post for himself, like Fuhrer or Supreme Being.

The South African born Musk can't stand, come on you know that. Trump lost an election and all that happened is some people walked into Congress, he isn't going to install a dictatorship.

No Musk can't stand unless they can the constitution. I was only using him as an example.

However, who have thought Trump would refuse to accept the previous election, even though his appointed judges said it was fair, whose acolytes got fake state electors to try to stop the election and whose supporters ransacked the Capitol building. There are anti democratic forces in the US who have direct influence on Trump and I wouldn't rule anything out, as Trump doesn't play by the rules, only what is in his interest.

Watching how Starmer greeted Zelenskyy and the crowd cheering for him has made me proud to be British today (which I haven't been able to say for a while).

Also so pleasing to see Europe rally behind Ukraine, with the US taking the cowards way out.

Trump and Vance are just school ground bullies, there was no need to humiliate Zelensky live in front of the watching world, that type of aggressive stance was probably pre planned and should have been done behind closed doors.

The you’ve never thanked the USA is complete bollocks, there is a video of Zelensky thanking Americans wholeheartedly for their support and military aid.

No wonder Farage gets on so well with Trump, this is what a Reform government would look like in the UK.

Facist racists looking out for themselves

Listening to Five live earlier it seems some are suggesting the meeting was staged by Vance ... Though Thier political guy denied it

Such a weird set up the whole thing ....Trump normally did the first behind people's backs not to their face

Iva always assumed the US spends vast sums supporting countries around the world and on defence so it can reap the benefits of the influence it yields

If they reduce / stop that worldwide spend surely it reduces thier influence eventually ?

If a small countries are no longer reliant on the USA for protection / aid then they don't have to do what the US wants ....then surely the US eventually loses out

Not pretending to understand it greatly but seems to then leave about a vacuum for China and others to fill

Not just the influence but as the biggest producer of military hardware it is all about selling the stuff their companies make, many people have felt some of the proxy wars have been good for business! Also military equipment has a life span including ammunition the US keeps the good stuff and funds development by selling and giving away the past it's best stuff, crazy as it sounds war is a business.

During the election Trump referred to Vance as his attack dog (or something similar) and Vance has already attacked the Europeans at Munich. Trump loves wrestling and a tag team would suit him down to the ground.

One comforting thing from the radio piece was that most experts believe it is unlikely the UK-US relation that has largely kept war out of Europe since the 40s will truly break down.... It's most likely the status quo (the good bits) will outlive Trump ..... And he will eventually at least die

Also.... Apparently a lot of the Republican US public hasn't take well to this little stunt either

Currently he can't stand, but he has almost 4 years to try and change that and there's already a Trump 2028 movement going

Zelensky has had to bend the knee

Such a shame to see but nothing he could do

Wonder what the rest of the world now thinks now they know the US is no longer interested in protecting national sovereignty around the world unless they get a load of valuable minerals as a trade
