I dont doubt in the Summer Russell Martin will be an attractive manager for a competitive side.

I dont think at the minute, he's very desirable for a side looking to survive desperately, say, Luton, or a side that needs to get results to get promoted, say, West Brom

He is currently 66/1 for that vacancy, which I think is really telling. Was 25/1 for Luton but I think that might be closed now as they are getting Bloomfield. But Snake isn't even in the conversation for either club.

I don't see him being high on anyone's list really. He achieved nothing but mid-table with us and Swansea, dragged up a Southampton side that should have walked the Championship with the squad they had, and then laid bare his pig-headedness for all to see by fast-tracking them to 20th in the Premier League.

Isn't this why he is 66/1 - https://www.westbromnews.co.uk/2024/12/ ... interview/

Ah I hadn't seen that - thanks. Reads like he thinks he is too good for that role, so seems like he is still an arrogant prick then. I wonder if he'll become less picky when the offers dry up.

Russell Martin is 12/1 to be the next Rangers manager. Just saying. :D

He's recently been in the Premier League, he's way above that level. Could be a decent move for Mike Williamson?

In what way does it read that way. The article states it would he interesting to know why he has opted to make that decision' and makes no comment on the details of any discussion. There are other reasons than arrogance. Maybe he just left a job and doesn't want to rush into anything, may want his next job closer to home, thinks the chairman is a prick, didn't agree with the vision, the squad didn't suit him and many other potential reasons or a combination of those and others not listed

I've mentioned before the regards he's held in up at Ibrox. However, the current board are such a basket case the the main supporter's group, The Union Bears, organised a mass walk out on the 55th minute last weekend, and there was audible booing last night on the 55th. They basically want the board gone. So it wouldn't surprise me if Martin rocks up just to spite them.

Just to reiterate, he'd be as welcome at Ibrox as a fart in a spacesuit.

Is the latest episode of The Rest is Football.

I haven’t listened to it yet, but I’ve been told that he speaks about us a fair bit.

Quote:
Russel actually said that he doesn’t think we should take the swansea job but his staff had other thoughts as it’s their opportunity
