It's mental to think last year, with our issues at the back, when he came back against FGR we were pretty happy to see him return.

He had a few good games but it quickly proved we were desperate - he wasn't good enough and never was. Its sad, it never worked and it Could've. There's clearly a decent defender in there but he's petrified and clumsy.

If he goes, good luck to him but we have to move on from him, though it won't be hard

We already have. He's just a name on the squad list now, probably 8th choice for CB after the summer signings and the emergence of Tripp and Waller. Hope he gets a move this month.

Agreed - he's obviously gonna go but just sad it didn't work at all

Somebody mentioned Osman Sow in another thread, but does Jack Tucker rate as one of our most disappointing signings ever?

We were a bit excited by him signing -

- Would be a good if true, very Darling-esque type of signing
- Now that Jack Tucker's name has been mentioned I'm a bit underwhelmed it wasn't him.
- Alan Nixon reporting we're leading the race to sign Jack Tucker from Gillingham. Another big coup if true, lots of Championship and L1 interest in him
- Bloody hell!! What a week its been for us. Massive credit again to Sweeting and Manning. Super replacement for Darling
- Might as well start a thread for him as no doubt he'll be putting in some Darling-level performances this season. Great signing, shows how much pull we have when lots of Championship and top L1 clubs were chasing him. Only 22, top performer for Gillingham and still nowhere near his peak.
- Great signing, YPOTY and POTY at Gillingham and has bags of potential
- Bloody good signing. Sweeting keeps proving himself, we already have Darling’s replacement in the building
- Great signing and a good bit of business by the club
- Looks like another great signing. Proven at this level and bags of potential.
- Great signing for the Dons, and weakens the GillsCouldn't be a better result

If its not him he's up there - walks into my worst XI since I've watched us

Personally (and maybe it was where I was in terms of relationship with the club that season) I had zero expectations for Sow and so had zero disappointment. I had slightly more hopes for Tucker. However, worse for me were:

Alan Smith (I know that'll rankle with some)
Dale Jennings
Tore André Flo
Didi Hamann
The two "Real Madrid" lads

Probably this needs a separate thread - sorry for cluttering up Tucker's thread.

Glad you didn't mention the Sturminator!

Best player to ever wear the shirt. No question.

For me I wasn't expecting much from Smith, Flo or Hamann. I was just a teenager extremely excited to see players I had Corinthian figures of were joining us! The Madrid lads were exciting but had no idea what would happen, more heart over head in terms of expectation.

Off the back of the 2020-22 recruitment driver everything seemed like Tucker would be perfect. But you are right, maybe that could be a thread. Start it up Keyser!

I said before the play off semi final we must drop tucker and harvie- both were disgraceful in the final few games of the season, they had completely lost focus. They were both astonishingly bad in the play off games - truly appalling. Although tucker had some good games earlier this season, him thumping a long ball down the channel against tranmere in the last minute of injury time that led to them scoring I think turned Lindsay right against him.

A failed signing in every sense of the word.
