Listened to it again this weekend for the first time in maybe a decade and loved every second of it!

The magic of music that we love... :D

It's a very good album. I saw them at the bowl 84? 85? That was good too.

I saw them play the bowl over 2 dates in 1995, ably supported by Blur, Radiohead, Sleeper, The Cranberries, Belly, Starsailor (I think) and another band whose name I cant recall.

A fantastic 2 days

Attack of the Grey Lantern by Mansun

A very underrated band and this is
thier best record

Like a lot of 90s indie though it sounds very much of it's time ...though I still enjoy it very now a d again

Recently rediscovered From Langley Park to Memphis by Prefab Sprout.

Splendid album. Always loved Cars and Girls, forgot Golden Calf was on it, and Hey Manhattan is incredible. Was surprised to hear Paddy McAloon didn't like the production of the song; I love the instrumental outro to it.

Tangram by Tangerine Dream

The dream are an odd band - stupidly prolific - they’ve released well into the hundreds of albums, but the vast majority of them are, to my mind, bland and unlistenable - akin to listening to the theme tune from the equaliser on repeat, for hours at a time.

But…

There is a period of their work that is just sublime - from about 1974 to around 1980, they just got better and better, and Tangram is for me the pinnacle of their output. I saw them live for the first time on this tour, and they blew my 12 year old socks off, and my life really has never been the same since, for which I am eternally grateful.

Tangram has just two tracks - the imaginatively titled Tangram Set 1 and Tangram Set 2 - Tangram Set 1 is my favourite - but I can listen to this album over and over again. it’s orchestral, it’s creative, it’s fascinating, it’s exciting, it’s huge, it’s subtle.

Possibly my favourite album of all time.

Now, I've listened to Tangram in the past. I bet you can guess what I think of it.

For the first part, I can indeed, and of course, you're wrong :D

For the second part, probably

Now thats what I call music 2 - Various artists

You will have to excuse this one as its not really an album in the traditional sense but it was the very first album I bought for myself in around 83/84 I would imagine, from Andys Records and I thought I was so cool, playing it on the worst record player in the world in my tiny bedroom. I think I must have played it until the grooves wore out! My parents most likely binned it as it was a constant for weeks but I remember playing it and it makes me smile some 40 years later so for that alone, its sits as a favourite for me.

Brilliant post. Possibly the best on this thread, and shows what music can mean to people.
