Coming Up by Suede (1996)
Suede were in a bit of a mess as a band when it came to this, their 3rd album. Their last album hadn't been a success, and had been a nightmare to record - singer Brett Anderson was heavily into drugs to the point of being incredibly unreliable when it came to recordings; Bernard Butler, lead guitarist and co-songwriter, left the band after it, replaced by a 17 year old.
So there was a lot of pressure on getting things right on this album, and, boy, did they deliver!
I love almost all of the songs, and could pretty much choose any of them to link to at this point: Beautiful Ones, Saturday Night, Lazy, She, Starcrazy... But I've chosen...
