Avengers Endgame

I fucking loved it but because I love this shit. Midnight screening too.

However if you don’t understand all this Marvel lark, and fancy a trip to the flicks to watch a fun silly action film then don’t watch it. You’ll lose your fucking mind mate. And it’s 3 hours long.

11/10

We're all going tonight - three hours feels like a big ask - hope we've got end of row tickets!

If you know the basic “what’s happened’s” of the past 20 odd films you’ll be fine. But I worry about the length for the younger audience. It’s an absolute epic though. I can’t get into what I liked or didn’t like as it’s all spoiler fodder

Fully understood!

The complete lack of any leaks or clues in the run up to today has been telling, but as we have been there for everything that has gone before I think we are ready for whatever comes next

Littlest OFD has been battering us almost every day for weeks with theories and counter theories, so I can't wait to see what actually happens

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

Disney, all 'round good guy, Zac Efron, stars an not such good guy Ted Bundy. The likeness is actually quite astonishing. Which says a lot for someone with Efron's pedigree. But when you consider the charisma that Bundy possessed, its great casting.

There's no actual killing shown here, apart from the last scene, but rather it focuses on Bundy's girlfriend, and her torment knowing that by giving his name to the authorities early in their relationship put him on their radar. The majority of the third act is a word for word re-enactment of his infamous trial. No spoilers here, he did it, and his confession finally gives her some sort of closure.

I liked that they didn’t focus on him killing people and focussed on making him likeable and progressively disliked - because that’s exactly what he was. A manipulative fancyboy who was a disgusting individual.

The Meg

Jason Statham battles not one, but two gigantic prehistoric sharks. Guess who both wins, and gets the girl!

Good day yesterday

Amazing Grace - previously unreleased 1972 documentary showing the recording over two nights of Aretha Franklin's live gospel album of the same name at the New Bethel Baptist church in LA. Pretty fabulous stuff, all the better for being on a big screen with booming sound. With only one screening yesterday I can't see it being in cinemas long, so if you are up for it then catch it whilst you can

You Were Never Really Here - A traumatised gulf war veteran recovers missing girls for desperate parents, until the latest assignment gets out of hand. Quite an original spin on a reasonably predictable formula, exceedingly stylish with an immense performance from Joachim Phoenix

John Wick 3 - loved the first two films and this one was even better. The fight scenes are amazing, particularly the one involving the dogs. Best film of the year so far IMO.

9/10

Beats - 90s coming of age film seeing two Scottish teens risking everything go on a rave - their holy grail. Low budget independent film shot (almost) in black and white, this is a refreshing alternative to Hollywood glitz - gritty and heartwarming. Fabulous film

BlacKkKlansman

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
