Hereditary - my interest in horror films generally stopped after Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, but this really re-sets the dial

I went under duress with OFD Jr. expecting a run of the mill supernatural snore fest, but was fortunate to see what could turn out to be a modern classic. So difficult to explain without spoilers, but this is a masterclass in slowly building tension, delivering an unexpected and shocking climax. The cinematography is amazing, the script and acting nuanced and powerful - I was riveted to my seat from start to finish

Forget the horror tag, this is a must see film by any criteria

Fair enough, opinions and whatnot and I’m glad you got value for money but it’s actually the worst film I’ve ever seen.

It was so overhyped. The last 20 minutes were good, the rest was slow and barely interesting

There was a moment that I thought “what is actually happening?”

It did create THE SINGLE best laugh I’ve had in a cinema in ages and you all know what it is. I very nearly had to leave the auditorium.

Bunch Of Kunst

A film about Sleaford Mods. Charts their rise from playing pubs, to Glastonbury, finally signing to Rough Trade.
I absolutely love this band, and like them, this was laugh out loud in parts. The highlight being when they support The Libertines at the O2. Their manager talking backstage about "Fucking Camden indie rock. I fucking hate it", just as one of The Libertines walks past, followed by a bevy of scantily clad models.

Whitney - the story of her rise and fall as told by her nearest and dearest

Not often I get to see a documentary on the big screen, but this was two hours of joy, celebration, regret and heartbreak. Sensitive, incisive and at times harrowing accounts of her beautiful and tragic life. Greatly edited, told through candid straight to camera accounts from those closest to her plus seemingly endless home video footage and news snaps from the times. I knew some but I learned a lot today - what a life, what a woman

Free Fire

The best movie Tarantino never made. How on earth did I miss this! Fantastic film. The best I've seen in years. I'll certainly be watching it again. Brilliant cast, brilliant acting, brilliant dialogue, just fucking brilliant.

Highly, highly recommended.

Incredibles 2

Great fun. Whether you’re an adult or a child, actually fuck it. This is a film for adults. I don’t think there has been more “relatable” parent moments ever in a film. I laughed thinking “that happened when I was a kid”, “my dad was like that” and now I’m exactly fucking like that to my nieces and nephews.

Seriously if you’ve got a kid, even if they’re old enough to go with their friends just be a parent for 2 hours and enjoy a bloody good film with ya kids and have a laugh. Loved it.

Thor: Ragnarok

I've had a shit week, both professionally and personally. The first probably feeding the second. So this was just the job for winding down.
I'm really not a fan of superhero movies, really not, but this was genuinely laugh out loud funny. I'm assuming that there were a few in-jokes which I didn't get, but it didn't matter. Mindless fun, which I'd recommend. But only sometimes.
