More worryingly Leko was sitting next to him. When Leko got up to go to the Changing Room at half time he had a very pronounced limp. Can't envision that he'll be back this season.


Was it the kind of limp arseholes do when they park on disabled spaces when they shouldn't. As in fuck this i am going to play in this shambles.

Whilst I am a person who delights in 'off the wall antics', I think it's time Leko left "by mutual consent"; he's been 'off sick for (is it?) 13 months.

Why? He's in a contract he's entitled to earn.. you can't just release someone because they're ill, effectively.
Imagine you were off work by an uncontrollable situation like injury or illness and your work sacked you?

I know what employment law says. But sadly (see P and O - ok I know it wasn't the same context but there are multiple other instances) the law doesn't always get adhered to. Not that I'm saying 'sack him'.
But when we learn players leave by mutual consent' I think we know what that means. If he is thought "never to be able to play like he used to" then it wouldn't surprise me if an offer was made to leave by mutual consent. After 13 months perhaps that time has come.
I bear him no ill will. Just Sayin' like.

If you were a footballer, and were in the final months of a contract (IE, paid income) would you leave through goodwill because you've had an unfortunate injury (IE an accident at work) out of your control?

You might if you got a really good offer ( like a voluntary redundancy package).

Players who leave by mutual consent are either paid up for the rest of their contract or have another deal ready to go with another club. They don't just leave and forgo their contract.

Plus, unless I mistaken, if we "release" him now - after the window has closed - he can't sign for anyone else until next season anyway. So we would he take anything other than a full payout? And why would we offer that? May as well keep him around even if it's just to come on and get the winner in the playoff final vs AFC :lol:
