Of course, they could have Covid and be out. No issues with that. However, my assumption is that they are out because they are a risk due to being near someone that has it and they aren't jabbed. If that is the case they could be out many times and, personally, I'd not be paying players their wages whilst they are out in those circumstances.
I'm not sure how much I agree with this. Whilst, from my non-medical background, I'd recommend as many people get the vaccine as possible, I think personal choice is more important. The vaccine doesn't stop you getting it, it doesn't kill the virus and it doesn't stop you passing it on. It is there to help reduce the symptoms of the individual gets it. Everyone should have personal choice regarding their body, especially athletes. If a player gets a back injury should they not be paid because they've not done enough yoga? What about a muscle injury if they wore the wrong boots? It is going to be fucking annoying missing players I completely get that but the current government rules on isolation are utter nonsense and make little sense, players who have made a personal choice about their health should not be punished financially for it.
The recent anecdotal evidence is that approx 75% of the covid cases in hospital aren't jabbed. So that personal choice is straining the NHS and costing us taxpayers unnecessarily. If people don't want to be jabbed, fine, just don't seek treatment when they get ill. Die at home, freedom lovers.
