To cut to the chase. This place is fucked. The amount of shops that have closed is truly shocking. I realize that it's an extremely wet and cold Monday, but there's hardly anyone here.

I should really make the most of it, because I suspect this will be my last ever visit.

Yep, I think CMK as a whole is struggling. Looks even worse given they're halfway through demolishing the Food Centre at the moment.

To Build more shops !!!

Give it about five years and CMK will look like this (replace Starbucks with Nando's):

It's all going on over here.

One of my colleagues, who incidentally has worked straight through the pandemic when most of us were furloughed at some point, went to a pub in Dunstable last week for the England/Germany game. He's also booked tickets for the Goodwood Festival Of Speed this forthcoming weekend. Except he won't be going as he was contacted by track and trace as being in a packed pub gives you a fair chance of coming into contact with someone who subsequently tests positive for covid. Oh dear. With less than two weeks to go until freedom day as well!

And...
We currently have a big contact in Rotherhyde. Big block of flats. Almost 600 units. We have three guys going down there twice a week at the minute. Or rather...

The housing association are finding it extremely difficult to attract plumbers and gas fitters to work there. Mainly due to the location, and to be frank, they're not offering enough to make it worth anyone locals while. Therefore, they've got a gang from Leeds. Who come down on a Monday, and go back on a Friday.

And back to the Germany game once more. One of the Leeds fellas went to a pub down there to watch the match, and has subsequently tested positive. Which means the whole site has had to shut down as his mates are now having to self isolate also.

So we're not out of the woods yet. By any means.

Presumably away fans will also be allowed.

Absolutely, all scenarios with crowds at indoor and outdoor venues, go back to pre covid conditions

There was only two justifiable reasons as to why away fans would not be allowed , either if there was significantly reduced capacities so it would be extremely unfair on home season ticket holders or if there was strictly enforced local lockdowns in which nobody can leave/enter regions. As legal restrictions are being lifted I cannot think of a single reason as to why away fans wouldn't be allowed in.

I wonder if there'll be a proportion of football fans worried about new variants that will still want to stay local and not do away matches though?

Oh most certainly. Many will stay away for a multitude of reasons, but equally there will be many who feel like they've missed out on a lot in the past 18 months and wish to partake in more activities such as away matches. I for one plan to do more games than I've ever done before. I've also got multiple friends wanting to do an away day or a home match, 18 months ago I'd never even considered that they would want to see Dons play.
