Have Southampton done the right thing in sacking RM? They’re going back down anyway whoever comes in next, would his style work again in the championship and give them the best chance of going straight back up? They should be better prepared for another stint in the top league

Southampton have made stupid errors playing out from the back and that will be punished in the premier league, but last night they were just totally outclassed by a Spurs team playing at their best in the first half.

It’s the silly season for sacking managers now anyway, Wolves parted company with Gary O’ Neil, Oxford have given Des Buckingham the boot today and I’m sure more will follow that route in the coming weeks, the manager merry go round is off and spinning

Given the number of Saints fans leaving in the 1st half and where they sit at the bottom of league, they didn't have much chance not to.

He won't / shouldn't get another Premier League job now, so will have to drop down to some basketcase club in the Championship. The first set back in his career and thoroughly deserved.

Waaayyyyy have that

Taking all the anti RM agenda away, absolutely they should've and they've waited way too long

Because ultimately, it's a results based business and when you've lost 81% of your games in a season, then doing it the way you've always done isn't the right thing to do.

Whilst true, there is no guarantee doing it another way will change the outcome. Furthermore almost every other team in Premier League history who have been relegated haven't played Russ-ball - so this idea that the style of play is the problem seems flawed.. There is no right way to do it, there is no guaranteed formula. Some like yourself and probably most people would say they need to adapt, I say try to continue coaching and improve the individuals to iron out the mistakes. A lot of the goals conceded are from stupidity and comical errors, rather than being exposed by impressive presses from opponents.

13/16 losses. That’s the only thing that matters here. I don’t care if his possession stats are good, he didn't win games and while their fans will thank him for Wembley, that squad was good enough to win the league but the same issues he saw with us were evident there too.

He might have to go north of the border. Rangers are a safe bet. :D

He and Rangers are absolutely not the best of friends. He really wouldn't go there.

When you take into account the fact that the club was formed in 1872, it's some achievement on his part to make the worst combined starting XI in Rangers history.
