Why though? He was less successful than Williamson and we gave Williamson the summer despite the warning signs and he still continued on a downward slope into the following season.
We'll never know obviously, and there's no easy answer - you can only go on the facts and the facts at the time were we had won 2 in 16 (or whatever it was) and had dropped from 3rd to 16th/18th (I can't remember). Any analyst would tell you the only trend they can obtain from that is a negative one. The fact Williamson on paper was made to look more impressive is damning in itself.
Because I’m sick of sacking managers every time the fans get a little twitchy. Time we realised that a little bit of stability even when unimpressive isn’t a bad thing.
