I'm well p*ssed off; dreadful to watch* but....if someone had said to me at the start of the season 'At the end of the year would you take being second and afc in the relegation zone?' I'd have said 'yes'.

Aynnd....always look on the bright side of life.

* AND I hope all the b*stards that ran onto the pitch get banning orders.

Wrong thread.
Reported. :)

Meanwhile, 'Paul Tisdale's 'men' from MK1' will be 'looking to return to winning ways' against Cambridge... :D

I find that generally all reporting for football clubs is quite lazy. The same phrases are banded about, and the reporting is too biased towards positivity and optimism when it doesn't really reflect overall fan mood (i.e. using upbeat phrases and optimism when fans are unhappy).

I know that it's obviously better for things to be good and to embrace positivity, but sometimes it's just right to acknowledge when things are shite. Like today, was shite, and 1 point out of a possible 9 is shite. Last season was shite.

I actually wrote to the club complaining last season when the reporting was too upbeat when we were at real threat of relegation.

Are you talking about the club’s website or the local press?

If you’re talking about the website, what do you expect? They want to present a positive image and to sell tickets. I can’t see any reason why the website would want to be downbeat.

I expect it, it doesn't mean it's right. It's irritating to read. Especially as SG19 has presented in his original post, re-using the same phrases and optimism as if they previous game(s) never happened. Not so bad this season, but last season was especially irritating.

I know it's personal preference, but I'd prefer a club that was just honest/real and reflected what most fans would be thinking about a defeat, string of defeats or staring relegation in the face instead of "anyway guys, please buy tickets for our next game against Cambridge! yay x" (disclaimer: not an actual quote from the official site).

There are other sources for the objectivity you’re asking for.

I agree, however, about the quality of writing and use of cliches.
