Hi all

Derby fan here in peace. Thought I'd offer a few views on Warne and answer any questions you may have.

Bottom line: I think he'll do very well indeed for you.

Warne is a top man. A thoroughly decent human being. He will absolutely devote himself to your football club and will do everything he can to bring you success. He'll only sign players who he thinks are decent characters who will work hard and fit in with the team. He is a brilliant man manager: he supports players, he creates a strong team morale and that is a key part of his success. He's not afraid to take tough decisions but he treats people right

He loves a 5-3-2. Like really loves it. Although he was flexible at Derby when it wasn't working so he's not got Amorim levels of devotion to one system. Tactically he is somewhat limited. It'll be get it wide for wing backs or wingers to burn down the flanks and cross it in for a big man to score. This worked in L1 as defenders did make mistakes in the box. It's a style that means you take risks in giving balls away from crosses (Pep would weep) but he relies on winning it back afterwards. All this worked in L1 but not in Championship. But for now it'll work. He's good at organising the defence and he's good on set pieces

He's a bit too honest after interviews. He's an emotional yo yo. When he's happy and positive I bet he could inspire an army. I think he gets down with a loss and can sometimes appear a bit low

He signs a lot of players he's worked with before. Partly because character is so important to him. Wouldn't be too surprised if you sign Forsyth from us for one year at end of this season

You'll like him.

Great insight, thank you.

All sounds great, except for the "Wing backs to burn it down the line and cross it to the big man". We don't have wing backs that are fast (nemane for about 15 minutes), can cross, or a big man to score.

We have the summer to fix that, though :)

If he can steer us as far as the championship I’ll be happy, then take it from there, we need a change in style, this passing backwards and sideways just doesn’t work

Welcome. With what we've had over the last few years we will be delirious with simply being a mid table L1 side in the next year or so. He won't be perfect, but he's the best man available with giving us the best chance of getting back to there. Anything better than that and we'll be frenzied.

Get it to the wingers to burn down the flanks and cross to the big man is what we’ve missed for years.

And it’s so simple….

I know nothing about your squad or how many players are out of contract this summer. But I suspect with some good transfers in key positions you'll see a remarkable improvement (I'm surprised he's not gone to a L1 club - no offence intended)

No offence taken, we're a tinpot League 2 franchise who would be destined for the National League if it wasn't for a random 6 game win streak.

Individually we have some very good players for this level, however we also have some of Lindsey's NL level players, and they absolutely have not worked for us this year. The problem is those good individuals are not playing effectively together in any way shape or form. I reckon we're in for another squad turnover, and this guy is likely Fahad's first proper signing on the footballing side so he'll be financially backed to have that turnover. What I mean is that Lindsey was likely a Sweeting appointment (and he let SL sign all of his old players) and from today's comments we seem to be taking a very different approach now. For example, when was the last time we signed a manager on a long-term deal? As this appointment is clearly a Fahad appointment, I think a manager of his calibre will be significantly backed financially and I think he has the experience and ability to deal with a turnover this summer and get out of this shit league.

Thanks for your insight, I'm glad we've gone for a top candidate and not the first name that our 'so called 'sporting director' Liam Sweeting thinks up.

This is key for me, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually looking forward to the next season again 8-)

Always liked "Warniola" (As I once saw him labelled on Xitter) as a bloke. Comes across really well, and the sort of bloke fans adore if things go well - but we've had a few like that who've not gone well. Alexander and Lindsey.
So fingers crossed it works.

We need wingers desperately. I am a wingersexual.

He doesn't do that ladybits "3 fist pumps to the crowd" bollocks every fanbase including our fawn over though, does he?
