THE CONCRETE ROUNDABOUT (TCR)

I know this post might come across as moaning for the sake of it, but I’m disappointed by the drop in quality of the social media output by the club lately - well, lets be honest, since Antoni left.

The Dele fuck up last week, and now the lazy AI generated Paul Warne pic tonight. Would it really be that hard to take a photo of the real Paul Warne outside the real Stadium MK holding a newspaper and spend five minutes in photoshop?

Not just those but going back over the season - the lazy transfer reveals/announcements lacking any real effort. Ooh, let’s just find a clip that mentions the name of the player or almost sounds like it, even if it has no context. It comes across like its run by a bunch of sixth formers.

Antoni set the bar high, as did those who worked with him. There’s no banter, no fun, no attempts to try something new. Tons of people would kill for these types of jobs yet it’s being run with no enthusiasm.

It started well - I remember those pre-season interviews he did with the head of strength/conditioning (Tom) and Liam Kelly that were well filmed and polished, but since then its been downhill.

That AI pic is embarrassing.

I did say a week or so ago that the new media person relies HEAVILY on AI stuff, from match reports to just the general match day stuff, and a couple people lambasted me saying I'm wrong, it's embarrassing and amateurish tbh

Whilst I agree with a lot of what is said, I do feel for him a little. He is a young lad in the role taking over a job where the bar was set high and the football club itself has been an absolute mess. I'm sorry but if he tried to have 'banter' or 'fun' we'd be criticising them for not being serious enough when everything is going so badly on the pitch

Antoni did an absolutely outstanding job as did Callum, but it helped to an extent that he had the Covid season where he probably had a bit more freedom for fan interaction and the brilliant on the field season of 21-22 where it is easier to engage when things are going well. I can't imagine Port Vale would be running their social media like they are now if they were in our position

My take on it:

Academically sound. The stuff in pre season will be off the charts quality wise but their hsnds are tied with how utterly miserable weve been as a team this season. Therefore theyve lost the ability to be creative and its like playing football manager and just simulating the game as you know you wont do much this season.

I hope they keep their job and get a chsnce to turn it round next season as theres potential there its just an incredibly difficult environment tk work in atm.

The announcement using movie clips was good for one window, now it comes across as ‘haha we know the name but we’ll make you wait,’ needs new ideas

Of all the things we can moan at, I don't get this.

Maybe because I'm not on Twitter so see less collective groans of this stuff, but formulating my own views - I'm seeing little to grumble at once Insta and Facebook and the website

I want a return of the more professional stuff we saw last pre season tbh. The videography was superb during that period. Im hoping to see a proper pre season tour this summer and some high quality filming and editing.

Every media team wants to be burnley but we cant all play like madrid and barcelona. Need to work smarter and bring a more academic touch to whats produced and let that skillset shine.

The use of AI generated images is fairly, and quite rightly, frowned up on Twitter where it's widely accepted on Facebook and insta, and the AI image of him holding the newspaper is atrocious, it shows the outside of some stadium with the word "stadium" across it but then over his shoulder is a bit of pitch, and the newspaper is jumbled nonsense, it's not hard to pay an actual graphic designer £200 to make a quick version of that pic without destroying 50 trees in the process like AI does

I think AI is wanky bollocks. Seen the picture and I can grumble at it - dont think it's the final nail in a coffin to deserve a thread though.

I think our pre match pictures of the ground(s) etc are pretty damn good. One of them is my lock screen.
