THE MELTDOWN – BROMLEY
I hardly know what to say anymore, it is painful to watch 11 players most of which haven’t got a bloody clue trying to walk it into the net or play impossible passes through a crowd of players, and when they do dare to shoot the only thing in danger are the empty seats behind the goal….82 f**king minutes to get a shot on target, one of only two all game.

You loan a player like Orsi as you are struggling for goals and leave him on the bench for over an hour and leave on Hogan who looks like he can hardly be arsed. We’ve also had to put up with nothing coming from the left-hand side all season, so you take on loan a player capable of that but continue with the rubbish we have seen all season, because you never know it could finally come good after nearly 30 games trying…. I’ve said it before, you bloody well couldn’t make it up.

If anyone from the club is reading this, your endeavours to get bums on seats this season is admirable, but the plain fact is what they are served up is garbage, and that will send people heading for the exits quicker than anything, the only way to get fans in and keep them is A – Entertain them, and B – Win games, that is the only formulae, anything else is doomed to failure.

We’ve won two games since the start of December and you don’t me to tell you that it won’t be long, Lindsay is running on empty, and I like him, so God knows what others are thinking that said he was a one trick pony with Crawley, but this cannot carry on as he seems unable to motivate them or turn them into a team.

I don’t know what it is with players that come to this club, some come with a decent reputation, but put a Dons shirt on their back and they become absolute pony…again, you couldn’t make it up.

I’m starting to a agree with some, it feels like a few of them are stealing a living, and I wish I knew what to say or what should be done, but I shouldn’t worry, SL has no idea either.

So, here’s where I am…. for the short term I am knocking the Meltdown on the head, I have basically had enough after the best part of 12 years writing this feature, I’m done writing nearly every week the same old thing…I need a rest, and probably I will realise that the best thing to do is hang up my pen, I might be back in the future who knows, but don’t hold your breath.

So just in case, thanks to all the people who have taken the time to read my articles and possibly even comment, I’ve done my bit, but not getting anything back from being a fan has finally taken its toll and I have seen some very low times, but this seems like one of the lowest, before we had players who were clearly not good enough, and to a degree I could tolerate or understand that, but this lot who are supposed to be half decent at this level is the final straw.

I’m done.

Thanks WellDon. Sad that it has to end on a low note, but I understand you reasons. For some reason we only play on the dugout side, the right on the 2nd half with Nemane and it didn't work. Hogan and Hendry need a rest, while Orsi and O'Reilly need to start. I would also give Waller a go again. However, as you said it's the pyschology of the players which need changing and the need to go back to basics.

An apt ending.

My overwhelming thought today was that I don’t know what our floor is any more . I used to think it was messing up the league 2 play offs but it isn’t . The floor is getting lower and I don’t know how far it will go. We were beaten easily by Bromley today, saved only by a goalie who made at least 2 wonder saves including penalty save which was truly brilliant. That tells me our floor is potentially not even in this league anymore . Our decline is accelerating and no cplnijaun of players - and there have been endless combinations these last 2.5 years - can solve it.

We are wretched in every sense of the word, tumbling to oblivion

You could just do a copy and paste every week, just change the name of the opposition.

Anyhow, thanks WD always enjoyed reading your views

Oh no. Just as I had seen the light and had started to agree with you. :ugeek:
I can't fault your reasons though. Spot on analysis.
So long and thanks for all the fish ;)

Looks like a good read but cba to go through it all. Got halfway through.

Look forward to the next one which will hopefully be shorter.

Sad that it's come to an end - not because it's shit to waych, but because there's little to fucking write about.

My reflections today after a sobering drive home.

Someone said "we just cannot break forward, we can only do the tippy happy stuff". League 2 is full of no-mark shitty teams like Bromley who time waste from minute 1, roll around crying and offer nothing. To get out of League 2 you need to be better than them so you can bat them aside like gnats. But we can't so we are here to stay unfortunately. I hate everything about this league.

Scott needs to drop the horseshit tippy tappy warm up they do - the one where they pass pass pass and try and walk it into the net. Because they are then trying to do it in the game and they simply not good enough.

We look no weaker at the back with 4 vs 5, so may as well keep that part. But Nemane cannot play on that system. He was woeful today - unwilling to get forward like he can.

Trueman looked good - pleased for him and no fault for their goal.

Scott needs to be more ruthless with the players that are either unable or unwilling to follow his instructions.

Well that was fun.

I honestly think that that Bromley side were one of the worst sides that I’ve ever seen at our place. We started with a bit more passion, and seemed keen to press them a bit, but that didn’t last for more than ten minutes or so. I thought that Sanders was solid (some questionable distribution at the start, but after that, gave a really good performance - my MOTM) and the keeper did really well.

I thought at times our buildup play was actually really good, but once we got into the final third, there was again nothing. I wanted to see Hendry and Hogan playing up front together, as Hendry is good in the air, and Hogan could play well of of him. Of course, now we actually had someone upfront who could win a header, we didn’t seem to try that move at all - apparently that’s only worth trying when man mountain Nemane is playing up there.

Today really bought it home for me - whatever we might tell ourselves to the contrary, we are a pretty poor league two side, and our league position is about right. I’m guessing that we’re safe from relegation, but wouldn’t be too surprised if we end up looking over our shoulders a little very soon.

No idea what you do from here.
