I have read a lot about our current situation and there are many valid opinions on how we progress forward but it strikes me that sometimes the destination is at the front of people's minds rather than the situation we are in. It is easy to see where we should be based on the stadium, ambition and finances of the owners but we can't fast forward we have to deal with today and on that basis I am firmly Scott Lindsey in and let's back the team. As to why I am like that it is because to change course now would be to throw the baby out with the bath water we would have to go backwards (another drastic squad rebuild) before we could hope to move forwards, the appeal I see in that is that we could put our faith in someone fresh whilst parking all the blame at the door of someone else however we have done that time and time again only to end up repeating ourselves within a year or less. Now you could argue that I have presented no reason to keep him but I will and that is when you look at the key players in our squad Williams, Crowley, Kelly, Orsi etc who on paper is the best manager for them and you would say Scott Lindsey let's give him chance to prove it rather than go the basket case route of Carlisle in letting someone shape the squad only to sack them. Thanks for reading and come on your Dons! |

Basically, yeah. If we were fighting relegation, he'd be sacked already. But we aren't. Whilst it stinks that we'll spend another year in League Two, we deserve to and it isn't one man's failure. It's several, including previous regimes. Now we have a manager that is proven at this level, the least we can do is back him for a longer period to try and get the outcome. Whatever people think about our new found wealth, we aren't going to, nor should we, Man Coty it and spend ridiculous amounts and act like that's the solution. Spend it on the longer view and wisely creep toward your destination. For the short term misery of being stuck in this absolute pit of a League, I've little doubt the longer the owner and CEO, sporting director and manager have a bit of stability with each other, the better it'll be for us in the next 3-5 years. Because what if we get a(nother) new manager and he doesn't hit the ground running? And we don't make playoffs/get promoted, do we sack him in the summer too? |

The club needs long term aims / goals and values as well as plans on how to achieve thesse, which should be regularly reviewed. IMO this is justification to keep SL in post, in that there isn't a knee jerk reaction to every defeat and setback. |

I'd sack "Scott Lyndsey" and replace him with Scott Lindsay, who has a decent record at this level tbh. ![]() |

There is no choice but to stick this out now. This season is likely to be our worst ever by some distance but we are too far into it now to change that. We are all in on Scott Lindsey for the long term. These are increasingly his players playing his way. It just needs time to see whether that was the right call or not, we are at least a year away from making that call and probably more. |

Stick with SL, we’ve been in turmoil for ages, chopping and changing managers, players, playing styles, it’s time for some stability, this season is done and we’re going nowhere, give him time and I’m positive we’ll be on the up next season |

Great post this. Sometimes feels that both fans and the club get caught up in where we should be/want to be as opposed to where we are. The season is a bust so we may as well see how the rest of it goes under Lindsey. If we still look like this at the end of the season then maybe there is another conversation to be had. |

It sounds like the title of a new Oasis album. ![]() |
