So I've been trying to work out if I should be feeling optimistic or not about our near-term future (I'm naturally madly optimistic). So I thought I'd list out pros and cons and see what it tells me:

PROS
1. New owners with (apparently) money and a long term approach
2. A new CEO with a good record at a much higher level. Proven focus on fan experience
3. MW might go back up north
4. Carlisle might actual pay money for MW!!!!
5. A good summer window - squad is much improved on last season by and large (but see cons)
6. Still plenty of time to mount a serious league challenge, if we change now
7. January window still to come

CONS
1. Owners have still to address their vile "representative"
2. MW might stay!
3. No immediate replacement for Max
4. Current form is shite
5. Lowest league position ever a couple of weeks ago

Feel free to add your own... but for me, now, I'm beginning to feel good again. And if Mike does foxtrot oscar, the party is on round at my gaff. Bring a bottle.

We can't score and we can't defend (especially away), but we are still rolling along. :D

So a lot of permutations are possible in the next few weeks.

The simplest for me by a mile is that MW adjusts the way we play. It doesnt need to be a wholesale change but a bit of maintenance on the way we get the ball from back to front, specifically the pace of that. If we can adjust that, I think results will improve and a lot of the problems will resolve themselves.

I said in a post yesterday that a change all round may be good.

New owners, new CEO, new manager, new squad.

I have a soft spot for Norwich City, and I'll never forget in 2009 when they dropped down to League One, spent a hell of a lot, got battered 7-1 opening game at home in what was as close to a local derby that season to Colchester as they'd get all year, and fans' feeling was on the floor.
With a club legend at the helm, couldn't steer them clear of relegation, they sacked him after 2 games and got in Paul Lambert who'd beaten them 7-1 just 10 days prior - the first real job new CEO David McNally needed to do.
They won the League at a canter despite winless in their first 3. The squad was there, the man at the helm wasn't. Oh, they also got promoted again the next season.. from 7-1 opening day defeats in League 1, to promotion to the Premier League by the end of the next season.

Granted, I'm not saying the same will happen but bad feeling around places can turn overnight with a few big changes. We can't kick the can down the road - the season can start from here if e get a new manager to go with our new CEO and ownership. If we've really got muscles to flex financially then surely we can attract someone who isn't a nobody to a long term project.

The training ground plans are well advanced and look fantastic.

I'll add one to the Cons...

We're still not really sure what kind of owners the Kuwaits are.

Yes they've talked a good game but they've remained silent on the Moath situation, and apart from appointing a CEO we've yet to see anything tangible. Are they just going to sit back and let the CEO run things (good in some ways), but financially drip feed the club as/when needed? The one real sign for me is actual building work happening for the training ground. If that happens, they'll have made more progress than Pete did in 20 years.

Overall I'm with those that feel a fresh change all round is needed - new owners (tick), new CEO (tick), new manager (pending).

Accept it or not, this club is in the dirt at the moment. We as fans and the club take so much abuse for supporting this club, it's no wonder our attendances are what they are when we're always up against it. Makes it ten times worse when results are mediocre/poor.

I went past on my bike a few days ago and there's now a portaloo by that gate that faces Watling Street so things are def moving in the right direction.
