Probably a good time to dig this up again for those who haven't listened to it:

It's from a few years ago, when we were competing with Warne's Rotherham side for promotion to the Championship (those were the days, eh?). The BBC made this excellent series of podcasts following both Warne and some other bloke you may have heard of called Karl Robinson. Well worth a listen.

Brilliant interview now available on the OS. What a very likeable guy.

It all sounded very GA to me. I’m not saying that in a negative way I just see a lot of similarities.

Warne's a lot higher energy and a little bit odd, but in an endearing way. I did like his presser more than I expected to.

Alexander was definitely a lot more straight down the line.

Yes his humour and general warmth really came across. Seems like a very nice man.

But listening to his comments about football, his style, his approach his opinions on how to win etc. Its all pretty much exactly what GA said. This isn’t a critique and I’m not being negative, it’s just a observation.

Great listen, thanks for sharing.

Disagree it does 'next to nothing'

Interesting quote today that made me think of this post:

Quote:
He continued: “From a player’s point of view they will probably see (this season) as an anomaly. Most footballers get it, they understand it just hasn’t worked out this season. When we meet players, show them around and tell them we’re trying to do here, they understand.

“I think that shows the ambition of the club that they’ve managed to lure myself and Richie here, which sounds arrogant, but when we contact players as we have been, I don’t think the league position makes it more difficult, but actually because it is League Two.

So we’re being ambitious enough to not sign league 2 standard players, and the manager agrees that this season just ending won’t be the key factor that stops players signing here.

It would be good if we can sign some decent players well in advance instead of the usual picking up the left-overs.

I get the feeling that his 'unique' style of communication is great when things are going well but will annoy people when they're not

Yup.
An expensive signing is a sign of ambition or a waste of money. Young players may be fearless and energetic or naive and inexperienced. Everything in football will be perceived differently depending on results

As long as he doesn't turn onto a whiny bitch like Arteta, Klopp or Ange the moment there is so adversity I will be fine.
