I was told that Lewie objected to SL’s style of making players stand up and being accused of being at fault……..how true I don’t know, but I heard a similar story from someone else.
The rumour continued that a number of players had spoken to him as club captain and SL didn’t like being challenged.
I have no reason to disbelieve the situation occurred but you have to agree it did feel like players had been scapegoated and frozen out.

As you say, we don't know if its true or not, but interesting nonetheless.

I can imagine this style of management would not work with the players we have. If you go back to Crawley, they were in a mess and signed a load of pretty random players. Based on their signings, they were expected to end up in the National League. I suspect these players just felt lucky to be getting a chance (or a final chance) at League 2 level and almost respected (or didn't want to question Lindsey). They almost just fell in love with his style and were 'happy to be there'.

The players we have signed (except most of the ex-Crawley ones), are arguably much better footballers than what Crawley had, with maybe bigger ego's too. Someone coming in and making them stand up and be outed probably didn't sit as well as it did with Crawley.

Still, could be utter bollocks.
