Have you ever wondered why you only want to watch men play sport?
Not particularly. I generally adopted the sports that my dad and older brothers followed. And as they are, obviously, even older than me it should be obvious even to you why they only watched the men's versions as well.
I'm not a person who enjoys watching 'neutral sport' that I dont have any interest in or knowledge about. I only enjoy watching sports I love and am invested in - and that's been Football, Cricket and Snooker. And because there was very little, if any, high profile female Football and Cricket when either myself, my older brothers, or my dad were growing up, then the versions of Football and Cricket they and I grew up interested in and invested in - like almost everyone else - was the men's versions.
Since the women's version has gathered momentum, I've already had my sports that I'm invested in and that hasn't changed all my life. I haven't suddenly started following any other sport in my 30's and 40's either, whether male or female version. And I haven't sat down to ponder why I don't have an interest in Basketball or Golf or Motor Racing either. I just haven't any interest in them. And that's probably as well as Football, Cricket and Snooker take up enough (too much!) of my time without thinking I'd better start watching all the other hundreds of sports, and all the diferent versions of them, as well.
Once again, I'll ask you why you seem to think it's compulsory for people to adopt an interest in something they previously hadn't when interests and hobbies are meant to be each to their own? Nothing or no-one can hope / demand to have anything close to 100% approval rating. Even men's football, with its huge global appeal, you must have heard many people, as I have, say they don't follow it, dislike it, hate it, etc? And that applies to
everything. As
nothing has close to 100% approval. That being the case, what the hell is the thinking behind trying to imply that
anyone who has no interest in women's football must have something wrong with them!? You mean it can't just be something that's liked by some, disliked by others, and the majority just not really care much about either way - like pretty much every other sport?
