Basically that. No idea how we got there or why we've done it.

Neil Hart has done a lot of good, but this is a massive cock up. Waiting for replies to be turned off social media posts soon

The club has taken something that was ill thought out from a branding and marketing perspective, and replaced it with a badge that is consistent, marketable and relatively simple. Maybe we don’t like change, but it will benefit the branding, marketing and advertising side of the business.

Most of the gripes seem to be about the roundel. There's very clear reasons given for that in NH's interview (forget the "roundabouts" nod. that's just gibberish and should never have been given as a reason).

In a practical sense, the old badge was open to "corruption" by 3rd party websites as he states. What that meant was that any website that wanted to use that badge could go ahead and edit it however they wanted to just to make it fit within the framework of their site. This led to bits being left off such as the red dot, the bordering, the MMIV etc, or being stretched and distorted just to fit their criteria. With the new badge there is a defined framework (roundel) and they are far less likely to amend anything within it.

To me that's a solid reason for doing it. Nothing is actually missing on the new badge and the change to Milton Keynes from MK is very welcome.

You seem crestfallen. :(

I subscribe to a very good YouTube channel you might or might not be aware of, HITC Sevens.
He touched on the circular badge nonsense here I'm sure.

EDIT - Having seen this as a good time to rematch this video - I'm quickly reminded of always being a fan of Inter's badge - even (Controversially) the new one and thought there's a way we could get MKD into a design like that.

I think it looks brilliant personally, a marked improvement and the logic behind the change makes complete sense to me.

It also reminds me of the 90’s early 00’s inter badge on their lovely white kit.

If we can now get it embossed on the kit in the form of a smooth patch thats robust and has longevity that will be great as opposed to a heat pressed shirt number style badge

It looks like it's been knocked up quickly and cheaply on Chat GPT or something.

It reminds people that we are a football club, because it says so.

I like that.

Other fans having a right slabber about it including plenty of “should have dropped the dons” comments. Changed my mind now. I love it.

I agree with those other fans, now was the perfect time and would be a proper 'evolution' as the club call it, not just adding a circle and a different background.

However now the dust has settled, I don't mind the new crest in terms of the design overall, it looks pretty clean and modern - just wish they'd gone further with the name change too.
