I dunno, he’s on a four year contract here which is almost unheard of, and on a decent salary too I imagine (why else would he drop down to us when he was linked with Championship jobs).

In other words, that soon it would be very expensive for another club.

I typically would have this mindset, but something about this feels a little different. Warne has been pretty committed in his career and I'd be surprised if he dropped to L2 for a short term career boost, I reckon he could have walked into most L1 teams if he wanted

They've reiterated the longevity of the contract and with this new wealth I reckon the release clause is pretty high.

True but by which time he might be struggling with commutes/other things at board level that outweigh anything else. We'll cross that bridge when it comes. The fact he's come when he's come when lots of jobs will come available is telling, but I still wouldn't be surprised

I recall him using the words 'Loyal' quite a bit in his early interviews and that is evident by his tenure at Rotherham and Derby.

He's also been there and done that. The appeal to go to a League One or even Championship club won't be as strong as a fresh manager who has not tasted that yet.

I've got a feeling he will be here long term if we are doing well.

Yup, very much a different situation to almost every other manager we've had where we have provided early opportunities in their career. He's tasted L1 and the Championship, he has almost 9 years of management under his belt. This isn't a case of a 'if I don't jump now what will come next'. Managers will usually want to jump before we push them - Manning was fortunate his career recovered because it could have gone very badly or had a relatively mediocre career after initial excitement and missing a chance like Robinson.

For me this would have been an utterly ridiculous job for Warne to take if he wasn't invested, he probably had chances in L1 with less jeopardy and pressure, and maybe closer to home. Maybe I am naive, maybe I just want to believe. But I thought it was mental he even took this job, so I'm hoping he is here to build something.

I was tongue in cheek when I posted about extending Stadium MK, but I do wonder if Warne likes the idea of taking a club from nowhere up to the Premier League. Wrexham are proving its entirely feasible.

I like Richie Barker being there as well, and maybe Lewi in the coaching team after a couple of years somewhere else.

MK Dons 4 Man United 0 was fine in the cup, but means more in the league.
