A complex character who made a few big mistakes from which he never recovered. There is a good manager in there and I am sure he and Crawley will be a force again next season based on their end of season form under him so far.

I think both he and Alexander are good managers who got caught in between two stools of trying to do ‘ MK way’ stuff with poor league 2 players, and being more direct without ever getting the balance right.

Warne is much clearer in his thinking and what he is going to do.

If you look at Lindsey's win ratio, he has been in the low 30's everywhere, except Crawley, where he has some affinity. The current Crawley team are strong on cointer attacks, whereas we aren't and I think it's a combination of opposition teams treating them with a bit of disrepect, that their players suit him better and good home form.

In respect of Alexander, he played a defensive game and hoped to nick it. Warne said something that resonates with me, in that players in the lower leagues have the skill, but they make more mistakes and unfortnately for Alexander, we made more mistakes that the opposition.

One good thing is that we seem to be better organised and made less mistakes. The key factor next season, is whether we can create and score more goals.

Alexander definitely did not try and play the 'MK Way'. His style failed so badly we ended up going back to the 'MK way' and recruiting Williamson.

I also wouldn't say he had a poor team. Williamson got a tune out of those players and I think his PPG would have seen us automatically promoted had he joined in the summer.

Half of the issue we find ourselves in is specifically because we wanted a reset and a change of approach with Alexander... we've recruited for about 4 different styles in the last 5 windows. The squad is a patchwork.

Very much this. And for that reason I can't help but have a little more patience with Sweeting. I can only imagine he had different instructions and frameworks which changed multiple times almost contradicting the approach to the window before.

We panicked when we went down shifting to signings like Williams, Smith and Norman. We panicked when the fans disliked the style then signed younger players and those with links to MW. We panicked when we couldn't get over the line so just signed players who had a decent year the season before.

I've never heard us emphasise a 4 year deal for a manager like we did with Warne. What I'm hoping for is a long term building - sort of what we had with Russ. A real vision from the management team and Sweeting uses his skills to find players to fit that, then Warne uses his charm to convince players to join the project. It could all be ripped up quickly when we fire him or he jumps, but I just want to believe in a vision that is shared across the club

If were doing well in November or what - I worry Warne has a clause/will easily be swayed by the likes of a Cardiff, Huddersfield/Wigan etc.. then we revert to another young manager not suited to what we'd recruited.

I typically would have this mindset, but something about this feels a little different. Warne has been pretty committed in his career and I'd be surprised if he dropped to L2 for a short term career boost, I reckon he could have walked into most L1 teams if he wanted

They've reiterated the longevity of the contract and with this new wealth I reckon the release clause is pretty high.

True but by which time he might be struggling with commutes/other things at board level that outweigh anything else. We'll cross that bridge when it comes. The fact he's come when he's come when lots of jobs will come available is telling, but I still wouldn't be surprised

I recall him using the words 'Loyal' quite a bit in his early interviews and that is evident by his tenure at Rotherham and Derby.

He's also been there and done that. The appeal to go to a League One or even Championship club won't be as strong as a fresh manager who has not tasted that yet.

I've got a feeling he will be here long term if we are doing well.
