I wonder how long he’s had this injury, and how/why the medical team didn’t pick it up before.

Warne said after the game that he's been playing with it for a while, but only decided after he was appointed manager that he couldn't play any longer - he was joking of course about the timing bit :lol:

That does seem to explain how poor / "off" he has been for months now. Crazy of the club to not let him rest or address it sooner.

I’d guess the player himself had a large say in it. It appears to be one of those injuries that often gets parked until the summer and managed with injections/reduced training regime etc. to get through matches. Irrespective of his form, you can’t deny losing him for an extended period this last few months would have been a tough decision to make for all involved.
