Just read it.
The members of the SB, from what I've heard, are all strongly pro/vocal keeping the name.
Not sure how big a sample of fans Neil Hart's "speaking to supporters" was for him to get "90% want to keep the name". Could have spoken to 10 fans.
To quote this part of the minutes in full:
"
Club Name ChangeTG asked whether the Board had considered dropping the Dons?
NH confirmed that there is no plan to drop it. The Boards view is that the fans do not want to drop it.
He then asked for a show of hands of the SB on whether the Dons should be dropped. One member voted to drop it whilst all the others wanted to keep it. OC
asked if anyone had put a comment in on the crest survey that the Dons should be dropped. NH
confirmed some had mentioned the Dons but only to say that it should be kept as part of our name. He also commented that in talking to supporters he found that over 90% wanted to keep it therefore there is no need to consider a name change.
JS commented that in his view a lot of supporters feel that the crest alteration is the first step to a name change.
NH
commented that the noise to drop the Dons is coming from other fans which is the main reason the voting has been protected otherwise there was a potential for the vote to be sabotaged. "
So in summary.
* The Board have no intention of dropping the Dons.
* Only one member of the Supporters Board felt that the Dons should be dropped.
* The comments section of the crest survey received zero comments about dropping the Dons BUT there were comments about keeping the name.
* NH has spoken to supporters about dropping the Dons and 90% have fed back that they wish to keep the name.
* NH's view is that the "noise" to drop the Dons is coming from people who do not support our club.
There you have your answer - there's no appetite from our new owners to drop the Dons.
