THE CONCRETE ROUNDABOUT (TCR)

The man who designed all of The Pistols record covers, Jamie Reid, has passed away at 76.

Who can forget those iconic ‘ransom letter’ cut up’s that he did for the Bollocks album? Or his God Save The Queen single artwork? This stuff has been part of my life for so long that they’ve become part of my visual reference. However, looking at his stuff last night you really see it with fresh eyes. Groundbreaking graphics. Outstanding. If it weren't for Reid’s work I seriously doubt that we’d have had the brilliant Peter Saville.

And of course, yet another step towards the door marked exit beckons, as another icon of my youth leaves the building.

He obviously had a long and full career. But I only know his work from that crazy 2-3 year period. RIP.
