Cabaret Voltaire synth genius, Richard H Kirk has sadly died, aged 65.
I love The Cabs' to bits. Been listening to them since the early 80's. In actual fact I was once mistaken for front man Stephen Mallinder when we first moved down from Glasgow.
Everyone knows the arty stuff they did, but as a solo artist, Kirk was responsible for moving dance music forward by leaps and bounds. Without him Acid House would have sounded very different indeed.
A truly day for folk, like me, that love industrial noise rock.
