The Beat were my favourite of those Ska bands.

Exactly this.
Every song The Beat recorded in the studio before they split is in my collection - I can't say that of the other Ska revival bands, no matter how popular some of them went on to become.
The Beat were quality from the beginning to the end, and I loved them from the first moment I heard Ranking Full Stop on the John Peel show - I still have the 7" vinyl.
While selling keyboards & synthesizer modules to a Birmingham music shop back in the 80s, I met & chatted with Ranking Roger who was hanging out there and he was a really nice & genuine bloke.
RIP.

'I Just Can't Stand It' is an album I bought when it came out, almost 40yrs ago, and I still listen to it now. How many other acts can you say that about? In fact I played it on the way home yesterday. 'Two Swords' is a brilliant song. There was far more to them than the ska label they acquired.

Saw TB back in 83 just after I moved up here.
Supporting Bowie at the Bowl.
They came on after Ice House IIRC.
Very jolly.
Sad news.
IMHO 'Stand down Margaret please' didn't really express my feelings strongly enough for that particular politician but (natch) I respect the song.
