It’s just been announced that Marianne Faithfull has died. I know she’s been very ill for a very long time, but still a kick in the nuts here.

An astonishing beauty in her youth, but hooking up with The Stones, she was Jagger’s girlfriend during their 60’s pomp, inevitably took its toll. Just off the top of my head without looking it up, she eventually became homeless before getting her life back on track and releasing more music.

It’s shit getting old, it really is.

She lived a very interesting life, that's for sure. Some good music too, though she'll probably be remembered more for being emblematic of the culture of her time, as opposed to a great musical artist.

Exactly this. Irrespective of her wonderful film career, hanging around with The Bad Seeds, married to one of The Vibrators, and on and on and on, all we were getting this morning across the media was either Jagger’s girlfriend or 60’s it girl dies. At least there was no mention of Mars Bars.

(I'd have to look it up in my copy of his book which isn't to hand but) Didn't Keef say that didn't happen - or at least not in the 'graphic' way it is usually reported?

It absolutely did not happen but some misogynistic Old Bill thought it would be a laugh to say it had.
