I would definitely advise to watch the video, you won’t get the passion just from a written word
Yeah he seemed genuinely irritated by one or two of the rumours.
We are very lucky to have a chairman like Pete. Nice guy, cares passionately about the club and progressing the club. I wouldn't swap him for anyone else.
My biggest takeaway is that Neilson is firmly under Pete's microscope and that this month will be crucial to Neilson's future.
We
are lucky to have a chairman like PW, so I urge you not to push him too often like we have today. That he did this shows what a great guy he is but, if you believe his answers (as we all seem to be doing), then it shows that most of the rumours were unfounded or exaggerated. He hasn't come out and confirmed many of the "conspiracy" theories going about that everything was connected to Neilson. You say that PW "seemed genuinely irritated by one of two of the rumours" and you're right, which is why I say don't push him too hard too often. It worked this time but too many times and he may well start to wonder if it's worth the hassle. Very few chairman would do what he did today. Let's not take that for granted by expecting it every time we have concerns. What happened today should only happen again in extreme circumstances, imho.
I think the fact Pete and the club have gone to the trouble of a 25 minute video suggests that concerns were substantial enough from fans to justify it. Pete has calmed the storm for the moment, but results on the pitch is what matters and this month is going to be a real test for everyone. I don't think Pete would go anywhere, even under scrutiny or pressure, he's committed far too much time and effort into getting the club to where it is now.
Respect him for coming out and facing rumours and concerns head on though, it's basically what we asked for - although I hope should any further concerns or rumours get to the point where fans are signing letters/petitions, that Pete and the club will pre-empt all that once again and draw a line under things before they get out of hand. Silence from the club is almost as bad as the issues themselves.
It wasn't the most satisfactory response in the world, but it's enough and now Neilson needs to really step up as there aren't many more chances left.
