If he is going to be third choice, then IF we get a full strength strike force, I'd be happy if, after a summer of training with us, he went back to Southend for a half season.

Signing with good potential from the highlights. Adds some pace upfront or out wide which is never a bad thing. Excited to see what else sweeting brings in.

[quote="Scribble"]Never heard of him, no idea how good he is, or what potential he has.

FFS, the most important thing about any signing is that it generates bickering and discord on here. ;)

I thought it was 'how easily can we fit their name into Sloop John B'?

It is always interest seeing the response to recruitment on both here and twitter. I don't think there's anything wrong in being underwhelmed by a signing but equally it is hard not to get behind anything that Sweeting pulls off. I don't see us signing anyone as 'one for the future' or a 'squad player', yes they may not play every week or it may not work out but I think everyone is here to play a part with the idea that they will be able to slot straight in and do a job. It may not work but worth giving them a go.

For me the Sweeting spreadsheet and interactions with players trumps players with good Wikipedia stats or a bit of hype around them, and for this reason I am rather excited about this one. It is nice to sign a young lad on a permanent deal early in the window who from a few minutes clips show some of the attributes we may have lacked in the attacking department.

I'm happy our first signing is a striker, even if he is a squad player. We dropped a clanger in Jan so at least we are bolstering an area that really needed it. Rumour is we paid £100k for him. But take that with a pinch of salt. If he is any good is a bit of the unknown but I won't complain until I see him play.

That's not the right attitude. Reported.
