If the worst happened and they were both to leave, realistically what would we expect for both, assuming we don't have some silly low release clause as with O'Riley?

I know people throw "£5m" around, but surely they're both in that region, plus healthy add-ons and sell-on clauses. Swindon will take a 20% cut of Twine's fee if he does go, so even more important that we get a good fee for him.

Obviously I hope both of them stay next season though, they're such a key part of this squad and would be hard to replace.

I would hope it would be a big fee upfront and minimal add ons as look at what we could have won with dele. Not to say they would fall from grace as much as him and also not saying the £5million we got for dele is chump change but we all wet our beds (myself included) when real were sniffing around and now it looks more likely he would be playing for reading instead.

Maybe a release clause if we don't go up

Hopefully not. I can imagine those being absurdly low like O'Riley's. Losing either of them for something similar to that would be a joke.

As long as he and Darling don't go to Swansea, I'm happy with whatever the club feels is fair

THIS

But also Luton. Eugh, imagine their fans if they signed either of them.

However, I'd prefer them to stay as they're both brilliant and seem like decent guys with no egos. Promotion needs to happen!

Interestingly only 2 players have won L1 POTY and not played championship football the next season (either through promotion or a transfer) and both of those won the award again 2 years later and then got promoted that season. Jermaine Beckford and Bradley Dack

Lets assume there is no release fee and he has 2 years remaining on his contract, what do we actually think Twine is worth?

Money in football is crazy. I know he's 'only' proved himself in League 1, but is a figure as high as 10mil realistic? To me, it is.

22 years old. League 1 player of the season. 20 goals, 14 assists. Just incredible really.

Don't want to see Twine or Darling leave they are seriously our crown jewels and if they were at Peterborough they would be getting top dollar for both in transfers, can't see either going to Swansea they both deserve top end Championship or higher teams...

Wanna start by saying I'm deadly serious here.

I watch a lot of football, at one time I'd watch upwards of 24 games a week across various top and obscure leagues. Never in my life have I seen a free kick be lined up and thought there's a pretty certain chance this could be a goal. In my times betting my market was corners/shots and in my mind when a direct free kick was awarded I'd be confident it would result in a corner or a double shot more often than I thought he would score here and cause a change in the bets pattern of play.

When Scott twine lines up a free kick everytime I genuinely believe he's gonna score here. If he had spent the season in the premier League, take away all his other goals and just include his goals from free kicks we would be talking about him being the best free kick taker in the world. I whole heartedly believe on almost all occasions bar one when the keeper got his positioning all wrong (Bolton early season I think) I don't think it would matter whose in goal such is his pin point accuracy and troubling placement.

The excitement I get when I see us awarded a free kick is unbelievable.

Anyway I genuinely believe in twine being one of the very best free kick takers I've ever seen and his conversion rate has to be up there. People often mention Ronaldo but in recent years his conversion rate has been really low. If twine reaches the premier League and maintains his free kick ability I do think we will be talking about him being one of the great long range specialists.

A wonderful, wonderful player and genuinely lovely human being. Wouldn't begrudge him going anywhere in the league's above if it benefits him having a successful career. As a person I'll be more fond of him and pay more close attention to his progress than even Dele, that's saying something.

Even the Plymouth fans are using adoptive language about making ‘us’ proud in the future.

He’s being identified as a potential great for Queen and Country.

____________

Completely off topic. I watched some of the Rotherham match. Their first goal should’ve been chalked off for climbing…

Reports in the papers today about James Ward-Prowse being lined up for a move. Southampton replacing him with Twine seems like a sensible option.
