Ex West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City forward and all round gem of a bloke Cyrille Regis has passed away.

Horrible news. Such a great guy.

Unbelievable! Only 59 years old, way to young. Only three years older than me, brings it home to you. RIP

My fondest memory of the big man is seeing him score a hat trick for the Baggies at St. Andrews in 1981 in a 3-3 draw - now that's how centre forwards should play

For those of us of a certain age, the game also featured Brendan Batson, Frank Worthington, Archie Gemmill and Colin Todd

Happy days

Frank Worthington - a slight diversion (apologies to Cyrille).

A mate of mine was a semi-pro Scottish footballer (on Rangers books but never made the first team; played for Motherwell and such-like). He met Frank in his pomp. He reckoned, at that time, Frank was the coolest man on the planet. :D

It was Pete's train set and you were honoured to be granted the privilege of paying to watch him play with it for 20yrs
