Dan, if that game didn’t draw you out of the bar you’ve definitely fallen out of love with football. Fair enough, enjoy cycling and whatever else you decide to do.

Wouldn't have known. Wasn't watching it. I went on the basis that I had free access to a bar where I knew a lot of old friends would be, that coincidentally happened to be in a football stadium.

Although this doesn't explain how I've been talked into going to QPR on Saturday.

I especially like the bit where it sounds like it's going to launch into the theme tune to Grandstand.

Will probably have to. The concourse at Loftus Road isn't exactly inviting, is it?

Yeah, sod it. I've got nothing else on and it's a reasonably cheap day out.

Even if it is watching a team I'm not especially fussed about playing a team I don't like in a ground I absolutely despise. :D

Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross at the Ally Pally last night!

That was something wasnt it? It was the most exciting darts match ive seen in my lifetime. I was firmly in rob cross' corner and the tension was ridiculous considering its not my top sport.

You going to the final tomorrow?

I wish! I'll be cheering on Voltage from the pub.

I've got Sunday night tickets for the Masters here, though.

Have the tickets arrived yet?

As you know, I too was cheering on Voltage. In many ways the final didn't live up to it in terms of excitement from being a close match, but I equally enjoyed it for the story of how well a guy in his first world championship performed against the greatest of all time, who himself had taken down the previous greatest when he beat Bristow in his first world championship all those years ago. It was a great ending to a great tournament.

I would also have loved to be there for these matches from previous years:

Part vs Taylor in the final in 2003
Barney vs Taylor in 2007
Mardle vs Taylor Quarter final 2008 - Mardle won 5-4 after losing the first 3 sets
Barney vs Taylor semi final 2013 - a bit of a punch up on stage after the game which Taylor won 6-4
Anderson vs Taylor final 2015
van Gerwen vs Barney quarter final 2016
Anderson vs Lewis finals 2011 and 2016
Too many to mention from this years worlds
