Hollywood tough guy Tom Sizemore has died at 61 after suffering an aneurysm.

You might not know the name, but you’ll 100% know the face. He was Sgt’ Horvath in Saving Private Ryan, one of DeNero’s crew in Heat, and part of the ensemble in Black Hawk Down. I first remember seeing him as the undercover DEA agent in Point Break. Hardly a starring role, but he certainly inhabited it to the max.

Obviously he specialised in tough guy roles, a role he carried over into his private life. A methamphetamine addict who was twice convicted of domestic abuse, and had multiple convictions for drug abuse into the bargain.

His extremely questionable personal life aside, he was perfectly cast in both Saving Private Ryan and Heat, Ryan especially. It’s obviously a great film, but it wouldn’t have been half as good without him, and as one of DeNero’s lieutenants you could easily imagine him shoving a sawn-off in a bank teller's face.

There's one scene in Heat that I'd forgotten all about until it started trending on Twitter.

It's the one when De Nero slams the robber who shoots the guards head on the dinner table. Sizemore looks at a guy sitting at another table with a look that says 'Not your business mate, fuck off'. It's perfect.
