Labour cannot be trusted with the countries' finances (public sector net debt was £347 billion in 1996/97, the year before Labour came into office, and £1,011 billion in 2009/10, their last financial year in power, that’s a cash terms rise of 191% over 13 years).

A quick Google suggests... UK general government gross debt was £2,382.8 billion at the end of 2021
Thank God for the financial prudence of the Tories

Also to add at least you could see where the money went under Labour as there was a massive improvement in the NHS and other services

Tories: Tackling inflation & Covid-19.
Labour: Iraq War, and mass immigration on a scale not seen before due to their incompetence.

You do realise that immigration is good for the country, especially the economy? https://www.economicshelp.org/blog/6399 ... e%20demand.
On the Iraq war is that the war only 2 Tory MPs voted against compared to 84 Labour MPs? Or to put it another way had the Tory MPs opposed the war in Iraq the vote in Parliament the vote would have been lost and Tony Blair would have been forced to resign!

Controlled immigration, not the kind Labour created by not imposing restrictions on movement from 2004-2014, giving the green light to a population of near 75,000,000. Labour's estimate was 60,000 would come. That gross incompetence led to Brexit and the ongoing issues.

With regard to the Iraq War, Saddam Hussein was a mass murder of his own people and was a threat to the world. Intelligence gathering and how is was portrayed is the issue with the Labour Government.

NHS improvements = lots of new hospitals built by private companies making the then labour government look good, but leased back to the NHS at huge expense for decades, costing the country far more in the long term than if we had just built them ourselves, albeit at a slower rate. Similar story with many new school buildings built over the same period

And as others have said, Covid will have contributed massively to figures quoted at the end of 2021, and that would be the same regardless of who was in power. End of 2019 figures would be the only reasonable figures to use in this argument

According to the Office of National Statistics latest estimates, the UK population is 65,110,000 people.
Under the Tory Government (2010 to current), the UK population has risen by 4,800,000
The latest UN population estimate of the UK is 67,509,000 with this projected to rise to 69,994,000 by 2035.

Don't let the facts spoil a good story.

Mostly the result of poor management and an open door policy of the last Labour Government.
Remember the block on the free movement of former Eastern Bloc nations lasted from 2004 to 2014.
That's 10 years for people to build up communities, entering the UK and staying as they please. Labour were in power when they had the option to apply the restriction, and as a result of pure incompetence, lack of foresight or even the ability to take on board what other Western European countries were doing. Brexit happened as a result of a Labour Government failures. They let down all of us. Keep them out of power, or another Labour Government will make mistakes that will be ongoing for decades.

Are you suggesting immigration is good, even when uncontrolled? In our case, set by a Labour Government's massive mistake. How far would you take this, completely without borders? How about healthcare, education, jobs, housing and let's be honest the whole infrastructure of the UK?
