I've only contacted my MP twice in my entire life, I'm almost sixty.
The first time was the Cummings eyesight nonsense. My MP's office emailed back saying that as they couldn't be 100% certain that I was who I said I was, they wouldn't be addressing my concerns.
The second time, just a few weeks ago, was about 'party gate'. So far he's not bothered to reply.
That's how much they care. I'm not going to publicly name him, but we live in Stony. Easy to find out who it is that quite literally doesn't give a fuck.
Back in November, I wrote to Ben Everitt about his vote to support the Leadsom amendment to try and get that loathsome toad, Paterson, off the hook. To be fair, he did reply (although it took 16 days) and admitted that his initial response was wrong.
Like all MP's, ignore what they say and look up their voting record. It tells you all you need to know about them.
Unfortunately it is never as simple as looking at voting records. MPs are under a lot of pressure from the party whip to support the party policies and directions. There are many many examples of MPs across the ages flip flopping there voting patterns on certain issues to reflect the party leader’s (both the actual leader and chief whip) requests.
I love the idea of having a local MP who voted on every issue from the heart based of their own beliefs but it just isn’t the reality of Politics.
