Your personal top 20. Totally subjective. And don't be afraid to come back and completely change your mind later, because I sure as hell know that the 20 films below are my Top 20 today but they won't be tomorrow.

1. The Big Lebowski. Year: 1997
2. Pulp Fiction. Year: 1994
3. Goodfellas. Year: 1990
4. Apocalypse Now 1979
5. Unforgiven. Year: 1992
6. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Year: 1966
7. The Godfather part 2. Year: 1974
8. Citizen Kane. Year: 1941
9. L.A. Confidential. Year: 1997
10. Casablanca. Year: 1942
11. The Usual Suspects. Year: 1995
13. This Is Spinal Tap. Year: 1984
14. Withnail and I. Year: 1987
15. Get Carter! Year: 1971
16. The Godfather. Year: 1972
17. Chinatown. Year: 1974
18. The Third Man. Year: 1949
19. The Searchers. Year: 1956
20. Blow Up. Year: 1966

Thoughts:
The 90s is obviously my favourite decade for movies.
Too many gangster / cops and robbers movies.
Several choices with a Noir, hard boiled detective feel or influence, but no classic Film Noir (except, maybe, The Third Man).
Only two Westerns!
Too few Art House movies.
No Hitchcock! Too few Tarantino and Scoresese films.

1. The Omega Man (1971)
2. The Warriors (1979)
3. The Big Lebowski (1998)
4. Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)
5. Dogma (1999)
6. Planet Of The Apes (1968)
7. 24 Hour Party People (2002)
8. The Godfather Part 2 (1974)
9. Rollerball (1975)
10. Zulu (1964)
11. The Day Of The Jackal (1973)
12. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
13. Carry On Screaming! (1966)
14.The Magnificent Seven (1960)
15. The Godfather (1972)
16. Apocalypse Now (1979)
17. The Thirteenth Warrior (1999)
18. The Time Machine (1960)
19. Heat (1995)
20. The Great Escape (1963)

The Omega Man is my all time favorite movie. I have absolutely no idea how many times I’ve watched it. It’s certainly in the hundreds. The rest are movies I’ve watched countless times.

I obviously love 60’s/70’s Sci Fi, and the poorer the production values the better. There’s the classics that everyone loves. Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape purely for McQueen. Likewise, Carry On Screaming, Fenella Fielding. A nod to cultish nonsense, and don’t judge me on The Thirteenth Warrior. I like it.

One that probably won't get mentioned and should only be watched in the special edition version is 'red cliff'. It's a 5 hour long single movie, that is a real masterclass from John woo. It really is a truly epic movie that is seldom mentioned on any list but really does deserve to be there.

Sit down with some snacks, turn the phones off and settle in for 5 hours of pure cinematography and story. Everyone should see it before their times up! It really is a spectacular movie.

I love plenty of sitcoms and dramas, and can watch the same ones over and over again, but I don't watch all that many films for some reason.

But I've racked my brains to get a top 20. From the list, it's pretty obvious the kind of films and era I prefer when I do get round to watching them. :)

The Fugitive (1993)
The Naked Gun (1988)
Blues Brothers (1980)
Blazing Saddles (1974)
Sneakers (1992)
Witness (1985)
The Naked Gun 2½ (1991)
Silver Streak (1976)
Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)
Big (1988)
Back to the Future (1985)
Airplane! (1980)
The Ladykillers (1955)
The Client (1994)
Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
Coma (1978)
No Way Out (1987)
Groundhog Day (1993)
Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)
Ask a Policeman (1939 - fond memories of watching old films with Will Hay, Basil Rathbone's Sherlock, etc, when I was younger)
