Couldn't Love You More - John Martyn

This, again.

Nice tune. Good gee-tar. But it suffers from the problem of all John Martyn's songs: John Martyn's voice. It's OK I guess.

Its his voice that gets me everytime. And his playing obviously.

But... As a person he was an absolute fanny. A raging drunk. A bore. A bully. Basically a violent wanker.

So he goes through life abusing everyone he came into contact with, but can write what's probably the greatest love song ever. Or 'May You Never' for his son.

Complex guy? No, just a prick that wrote amazingly beautiful songs.

I didn't like him, but I love his music.

Listening to it now, and have actually been singing it all day at work.

I have that dilemma with a lot of performers whose songs I like:
Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen,
Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan.
And even classic groups like The Who, The Stones, The Stones Roses.
Great songs and music and I love them, but vocally, well they're no Jon Bon Jovi.

I love most of those you list. Their voices, not just the music. Bon Jovi (and JBJ) leave me cold. Each to his own.

David Bowie - No Plan
Still raises goosebumps.
Spotted a mention on Twitter earlier today in relation to our plight.
