Just thought we might share experiences on here.

Was wondering when I might be due my first one. Called on Wed to the doctors and receptionist said 'how about tomorrow?' this was a bit unexpected but I went along to Oakridge (past the dump in New Bradwell and it's that new shopping place on the left next to Asda). This isn't my doctors but there's a consortium I think all going there.

Had to wait outside for 25 mins as it was running late and it was cold. Once inside all v efficient and had to wait 15 mins afterwards 'in case of a reaction'.

Mild discomfort in arm but nothing horrid (and, natch, they give you leaflets spelling out all the possibilities).

So...take a coat wherever ya go as you may have to queue outside and don't expect to be seen on time (and that's no criticism of those administering it; just the way things are bound to be).

Worth calling ya doctors if not heard anything. Maybe I just got lucky.

Hope all goes well.

Booking online yourself is quicker than waiting for your gp letter.
Currently you can book yourself online if “over 64”.
I might be wrong, but that seems to mean over 64 this year , not just today.
Google “Covid booking vaccination”

Good stuff. Exactly the sort of advice for us I was hoping to generate!
I'll just add that I'm (slightly) younger than 64 so it might be worth a call nevertheless.

I've had my 1st jab this week and no side effects to report. As they say no sense no feeling.

Thanks for update.
Mrs Ramone has just tried and there are no MK centres currently available to go to via this service (must still be being prioritised for the vulnerable?) although you CAN go to Northampton, Dunstable, Luton etc.
It says 'new centres are being added all the time".

I received my first on the 6th February. Due to my medical history I had mine due to being ‘vulnerable’.

Mine was the AstraZeneca vaccination as I’m allergic to penicillin, which the Pfizer one contains (may be worth indicating to those giving the vaccine just in case).

I had mild sickness during the night but, aside from that, no really bad side effects.

And, as Ali says, take a coat! :D

Brilliant. I didn't know that - it wouldn't affect me although, as you say, it may affect others, so def worth passing it on.
Please keep your comments/experiences coming! The more we can share the better.

I’m making the trip across the border into Northamptonshire for my jab, Northampton in fact, I will be wearing my MK Dons cap and jacket, plus five face masks to keep free of other disease ridden locals

They're now accepting folk 56 and over. I've just booked both of mine. Just go on the NHS site, put your NHS number in, and if you meet the criteria they give you loads of options of where and when you can go.

First one a week on Wednesday, second June the second.

Couldn't have been any easier. I'd urge you to have a go even if you don't think you'd qualify. I didn't. I'm almost 59, but I didn't think they were taking anyone under 60 at the moment.
