Botswana decriminalises homosexuality.

This is tremendous news (my opinion) in a continent which is massively homophobic. No idea if it's the start of change across the continent or just an anomaly (obvs I hope it's the former).

The BBC states:
"Gay sex can be punishable by death in northern Nigeria, Sudan, Somalia and Mauritania. Tanzanian laws mean homosexuality can result in a life sentence."

"Angola, Mozambique and the Seychelles have all scrapped anti-homosexuality laws in recent years."

Bravo to Botswana. I'm sure there is still massive predjudice there but this is a huge step and is a big indication of the independance of their legislature. That holds out hope for the future of democracy itself.

Yes I am aware of that. Are you aware that some activities are higher risk than others? So FF is lowest risk then MF vaginal (although higher risk for F than M) then MF anal and then MM anal. Prostitutes are higher risk than wives, shared needles higher risk than shared cigarettes etc.

Having gay sex in Africa is pretty risky.

Having gay sex is pretty risky anyway. Having heterosexual sex is risky.

To deny a couple the chance to express their emotions with each other because of some backward, homophobic thoughts is scandalous in 2019. Some people get murdered for being who they are, gay. And that’s not normal.

Many people from many African, Asian.. in fact fuck it, anywhere aren’t against gay legalisation solely because of health risks, they’re against it because they don’t like it. And they’re morons.

I'm certainly not homophobic, far from it. And executing people for being gay is clearly wrong (as is executing anyone for anything). But to think this is a good thing, in Botswana who are third on the list for Aids, well I can't agree.

You made a leap as well, you said to "deny a couple the chance to express their emotions with each other" but this doesn't just cover couples but rather any two people who meet. If people only had sex with long term partners then the rate would fall (gay or vanilla).

SA is fourth in that list. In SA, AIDS is primarily a straight disease, fuelled by a macho culture. Maybe they should outlaw straight sex, to reduce AIDS.

Absolutely, it is rather disgusting if you think about it.

Of course it is illegal to use prostitutes and to rape so I'm not sure if outlawing it will work.

And AIDs is predominately hetro in Africa because homosexuality is illegal. It's why the predominate cause of road deaths in the UK is by people driving on the left.
