Anybody else ‘panic’ when going onto Twitter and seeing people are trending and wondering if that means they have just died :? ? Today was Neil Young (he hasn’t, btw)

Just happened again with Chris Cairns.
He's in intensive care after suffering a "major medical event" and having heart surgery. Really hope he pulls through.

I love an all rounder and, along with Lance Klusener, he was one of my favourites in the 1990's/2000's era. And as someone who has a fondness for Nottinghamshire CCC, I especially like him for his number of years there as an overseas player.

Only 51. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Sean Lock today. Died of cancer aged 58.
Was a fan of his panel show work more than his stand up, but hadn't known he was seriously ill - although he'd looked and sounded unwell on some appearances. Still, when I saw he was trending I was expecting he'd got into trouble for something he'd said - probably something brought up from the 1990's that was now deemed unacceptable. But wasn't expecting to find out he'd been suffering from cancer and had died.

A sad loss at such a young age many comedians can be a bit samey but I found Sean was genuinely refreshing in his humour.

Sort of connected: the long-serving Labour MP Austin Mitchell has died. Doesn't sound particularly newsworthy on the face of it, but he was actually the presenter on Yorkshire Television who hosted the infamous Don Revie/Brian Clough interview in 1974.

Not my sort of humour, but 58 is no age at all. Terrible thing.

Norm Macdonald now.

I've been enjoying loads of his clips on YouTube this year. Turns out he'd been secretly battling cancer for 9 years and died today.

Just seems to be one shit thing after another these days. :(

One of his bits was about it shouldn't lost his fight with cancer as the cancer dies with you so it's a draw.
