Loved Williams. Think he’s a misunderstood player, thought he was very good for what it’s worth with us and only didn’t look still that to some as he was a part of a struggling side. He’d have been a great addition in 14/15 when we went up.

Too much of an injury liability for most clubs to seriously consider him. Might have to take a hefty pay-cut to get a club.

Always had a soft spot for JW - he was injured for much of the second Sunderland documentary too, all alone up north and seemed thoroughly depressed. Hope it works out for him at Swindon. A fully fit Williams should smash the crap out of L2.

I haven't watched any of the Sunderland documentaries but I remember reading a thread about it on some site and people were discussing how 'troubled' Williams came across - as if he was struggling with issues or depression or something. I guess, yeah, being injured while on loan to the other end of the country can be a very lonely experience.

The picture painted was of a lonely guy - it did make me feel bad for him, and certainly seemed like he needed more support around him. Hopefully he is older, wiser, stronger now. Swindon is no place to be if you are already depressed!!
