The club spotted his talent. But also saw he needed a lot of time. Letting him go when we did was the right move. We couldn't afford to keep him on the books for FIVE YEARS to come good.

Happy for the lad that it's now working out. Talented... but a late flowering and we're not a club that can afford to have academy lads take that much time, sadly.

So does that work for Thomas Assante and Noumbe too? Seems little point in having an Academy if we can't develop them and let them go out on loan like George Baldock, who was given plenty of time.

Arguably, Nombe flowered quickly - he was leading the line for us but Russ M didn't want that sort of player. Exeter love him and he could still be doing a good job here, if things had panned out differently.
