2 years on and he's seemingly happy with his lot in League 1, in front of sub-3,000 crowd and a home loss to Rochdale.

If we'd have kept in him League One we might not have been relegated. He's better than Downing, Wootton and EEL.

He’d not have stayed under Neilson because Neilson wouldn’t have liked anyone who stood up to him.

It was his decision to go, I understood at the time that he wanted to be further north for family reasons, as well as believing he was Championship material.

I don’t think that was a reason he left. When we got promoted to the Championship, he left to go back to League one. It was WE who believed he was Championship material. Otherwise there wouldn’t have been all that fuss about him leaving.

Eh? He left after we got relegated and he signed for Burton who just got promoted to the Championship and he became their captain...

The fuss was about him trying to force a move to a team we thought were going to be promotion rivals in Sheffield United. The move to Burton was the best for both parties.
