Winkelman decided against signing him. Wanted to sign too. But now we are blessed with quality Strikers lol

What do you think his wages are?

That gives him the Double over Manchester.

Indeed.
I have pointed out that he scored twice for us last time he helped a League 1 team inflict a humiliating cup defeat onto a big Premier League club from Manchester, on the BBC Sport comments page for their "FA Cup: Just how big was Wigan's victory over Manchester City?" article & HYS.

Still Man Ure's heaviest defeat to lower league opposition after 90 mins, isn't it?

Pretty sure us beating them 4-0 is their biggest ever League Cup defeat too (including Premier League opposition).

I'm sure Nicky Maynard would have taken that chance just as well. ;)

That single winning goal by Will Grigg to knock Manchester City out of the FA Cup, just earned Wigan £180,000 in 5th Round prize money alone...
Wonder if he's really worth £1M? ;)

Maynard for Grigg.
It's the gift that keeps on giving. :(

After Grigg left us, in his subsequent championship year with Wigan he scored 7 goals from 38 games.

In his championship year with us, Maynard also scored 7 goals from 38 games.

We didn’t pay a million for Maynard.

I should hope not!
Since the start of the 2012/13 season, Maynard has scored 17 goals in 141 matches.
Grigg has scored 97 in 247 matches in the same period.
Maynard averages a goal every 8.2 games. Grigg a goal every 2.5 games.
Wigan are going up with Grigg as top scorer, we are going down. Maynard has scored 0 in 24 for Aberdeen this season.
That's why we should have paid £1 million for Grigg, but why we ended up with Maynard on the cheap.

We couldn’t afford him. Whatever we offered, Wigan would have trumped it.

The point is, when he stepped up to the Championship the year after us, he did no better than Maynard.

If we had paid a million for exactly the same performance, we would have been slagging off the club for wasting money, and we’d still have been relegated.

Yup. He actually scored fewer goals than Maynard did for is in the Championship. I think that we needed another goalscorer, but I doubt that Grigg would have been that player.
