THE CONCRETE ROUNDABOUT (TCR)

A day on and thinking about the game yesterday.

Bar the first 20 mins of the second half we were excellent. First half especially we were a joy to watch. The keeper and a centre back two of MJW and Smith struggled in that bad spell but all are now reserves so no real blame goes their way. What was also clear was that Dean and Payne are playing at a different level to the rest. Both were brilliant when they came on. Keeping these two fit and not losing them in January is going to be so important to our season.

The first goal we gave away was a good finish by their striker. The second and third maybe we don’t concede if tucker is on the park still, or a fit Lewington is back there instead of a midfielder MJW filling in. To be fair Reading had a few other chances in that spell.

My only complaints. Poor Mo looks lost. I thought leko had a very good first half but his work didn’t really get anywhere as Mo was not at the races. Dean is streets ahead of Mo at the moment. My other is Devoy. He is a really tidy player but he kind of just plays about a bit and never really does much defensively or ever looks like scoring. He looks a long way off Payne in terms of impact and I feel I have been waiting for a long time for devoy to really start playing at that next level.

Overall - very pleased with yesterday. We looked really good for 65 minutes of that match and it was night and day compared to the misery of Harrogate, barrow, Stockport etc under Alexander.

I think Devoy seems weak on the ball and in the tackle he has skill but is easly out muscled.
Didnt Eisa have a shot in the first few minuets which hit the far post of the goal or have I miss- remembered.
